Delaware’s Matvei Nanakonov, Gardner-Webb’s Slawka Ndubuisi Named ASUN Swimmers of the Week

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Matevi Nanakonov and Rocco Simonelli earned this week’s Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) Men’s Swimming & Diving honors, while Slawka Ndubuisi and Alex Pastris claimed this week’s Women’s awards, announced Tuesday by the league office.

Delaware’s Nanakonov earned first-place in the 100-Yard Breastroke at the Fightin’ Blue Hens Meet with a time of 52.35. His performance in the 100 Breast set a new pool record and placed the senior in the top-10 (seventh) in the country in the event. He also won he 50 freestyle with a 20.25. FAU’s Rocco Simonelli earned two top-three finishes at the Owls’ meet with Keiser. The Palm Harbor, Fla., native claimed first-place in the 3- 3-meter dive with a score of 321.30. In the 1-Meter Dive, he placed second with 287.85 points.

Gardner-Webb’s Ndubuisi claimed six individual wins against conference foe Old Dominion and helped lead the Runnin’ Bulldogs to a 170 to 165 overall victory. She earned wins in the 50-Yard Freestyle, 100-Yard freestyle and the 400-Yard Freestyle Relay. She also claimed first in the 50-Yard Backstroke and the 100-Yard Backstroke as well as a 1st-place finish with a 1:45.42 in the 200-Yard Medley Relay. The Blue Hens’ Pastris earned a spot in the NCAA Diving Zone with her performance in the 3-Meter Dive. She recorded a 281.55 as well as a 264.53 in the 1-meter Dive to win the event.
