BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — The BGSU swim and dive team competed in a dual against the University of Miami (OH) today at Cooper Pool. The Falcons were victorious in the meet, beating the Redhawks by a score of 131-112.
“Today was electric! The ladies believed in themselves and defended our home pool.” said head coach Tanner Barton. “It was a true TEAM effort and a testament to the work this staff and these ladies have been putting in behind the scenes.”
BGSU opened the day with a win in the 200 yard medley relay, with Emily McNicol, Lauren Jablonski, Karina Solera and Samia Becdach finishing with a time of 1:43.50. The Falcons followed up with Natalia Mayorga taking first in the 3 meter diving, finishing with a score of 310.05.
Corine Rieskamp finished first in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:54.49 earning nine team points in the event, followed by Samia Becdach finishing first in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 23.52, giving the Falcons a commanding lead through the first five events. Elise Snyder would then take first in the one meter diving event with a score of 266.10.
“Elise and Natalia both secured victories and NCAA Zone qualifying scores. Two of our freshmen, Corine and Lauren, also secured victories and made a statement during their first meet at home.”
Samie Becdach continued her strong performance, taking first in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 51.29. Emily McNicol and Lauren Jablonski won the 100 yard backstroke and the 100 yard breaststroke respectively, continuing the Falcons dominance in the sprint events.
Corine Rieskamp also continued her strong performance, finishing second in the 100 yard breaststroke just behind Lauren Jablonski.
With Saturday’s victory, the Falcons earned their first conference win in a dual match since 2022, defeating the Redhawks that were predicted to finish tied for second in the MAC preseason poll. BGSU swim and dive will enjoy a couple of weeks off from competition before taking on Eastern Michigan at Cooper Pool on Nov. 7 at 6 pm.

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — The Miami University women’s swimming and diving team continued their road trip to Bowling Green State University on Saturday, Oct. 18. The RedHawk women were bested by the Falcons, 112-131.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The RedHawks road meet started with the women’s 200-yard medley where the women’s A team finished second. Ella Ziegert, Madison Watschke, Natalie Gilson and Julie Waechter turned in a combined time of 1:43.83
- Sarah Pophal finished first in the women’s 1000-yard freestyle, earning a time of 10:22.86. Audrey Conley was second with a time of 10:36.37.
- After that came the women’s 200-yard freestyle, where Waechter finished third, recording a time of 1:55.87.
- The women’s 50-yard freestyle followed where Gilson was second with a time of 23.94.
- Gracie Gregory was first in the women’s 400-yard IM, posting a time of 4:29.29. Rebekah Gurley and Ashley Sego followed in second and third place with times of 4:30.90 and 4:35.41 respectively.
- Up next was the women’s 100-yard butterfly where Gilson finished second earning a time of 57.32.
- Ziegert was second in the women’s 100-yard freestyle posting a time of 51.86. Gregory finished third with a time of 53.19.
- The 100-yard backstroke followed where Madison Camden finished second turning in a time of 57.33.
- After that was the women’s 500-yard freestyle where Pophal was first, recording a time of 5:05.48. Chrisna Bezuidenhout finished third posting a time of 5:11.55.
- Watschke was third in the women’s 100-yard breaststroke earning a time of 1:05.30.
- Swimming events concluded with the women’s 200-yard freestyle relay where the women’s A team finished first. Jenna Halliday, Bezuidenhout, Camden and Waechter turned in a combined time of 1:35.67.
- For diving events, Mia Meinhardt earned a second place finish in the women’s 1M dive with a score of 264.83.
- Mia Meinhardt earned a second place finish in the women’s 3M dive as well with a score of 264.45.
UP NEXT: The RedHawks swimming and diving team will head home to take on Northern Kentucky University at the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center on Friday, Nov. 7 at 3 p.m.
