Florida’s Kruger, Alabama’s Vincent & Korstanje Named SEC Swimmers of the Week

Men’s Swimmer of the Week: Tim Korstanje, Alabama

Alabama’s Tim Korstanje, a senior from Nijmegen, Netherlands, won two individual events and was a part of two winning relays to help the Crimson Tide earn the season-opening win over Delta State. Korstanje placed first in the 50 free with a time of 20.03 and the 100 fly with a time of 48.14. He also swam the second leg of the winning 200 free relay (1:19.19/19.40) and the third leg of the 200 medley relay (1:28.11/20.81).

Men’s Diver of the Week: Colten Cryer, Alabama

Alabama’s Colten Cryer, a junior from Keller, Texas, swept the springboard events in the season-opening win over Delta State. Cryer claimed first place on the 1-meter with a top score of 331.20 and on the 3-meter with a final score of 350.63.

Co-Women’s Swimmer of the Week: Cadence Vincent, Alabama and Lainy Kruger, Florida

Alabama’s Cadence Vincent, a junior from Buckhannon, W.Va., won two individual events and was a part of two winning relays to help the Crimson Tide earn the season-opening win over Delta State. Vincent touched the wall first in both the 50 free (22.21) and the 200 free (1:48.12). She also swam leadoff in the 200 free relay (1:31.90/22.10) and the anchor leg of the 200 medley relay (1:37.66/21.56).

Florida’s Lainy Kruger, a junior from Taylor Mill, Ky., earned two individual victories in the Gators’ season-opening win at Indiana. Kruger claimed the top spot in the 200 free with a time of 1:48.37 and in the 200 fly with a time of 1:59.44. She also swam the final leg of the 400 free relay that finished with a time of 3:23.98 (49.45).

Women’s Diver of the Week: Maria Garcia, Florida

Florida’s Maria Garcia, a freshman from Nuevo Leon, Mexico, earned two podium finishes in the season-opening win at Indiana. In her collegiate debut, Garcia finished first in the 3-meter springboard with a top time of 308.48 and captured second place in the 1-meter with a final score of 254.78.
