Slovakia National Team Member Alexandra Hrnčárová Commits To Virginia Tech For 2026

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Alexandra Hrnčárová from Slovakia has announced her commitment to continue her academic and athletic careers at Virginia Tech beginning in fall 2026.

“Beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue both my academic and athletic career at Virginia Tech. It’s been a long journey, and I’m deeply thankful to everyone who has supported me along the way. Truly grateful for the opportunity to begin this new chapter at Virginia Tech”

Hrnčárová swims for Plavecký Klub Tenax Žilina and is also a member of Slovakia’s National Team. She most recently represented Slovakia at the U23 Championships that took place in Samorin, Slovakia. She swam in prelims of the 50 free, 100 free, 50 back, and 50 fly. Her highest finish was 16th in the 50 free as she touched in a 25.80, just off her lifetime best of a 25.38 from 2023.

Last December, she represented Slovakia at the 2024 SCM World Championships swimming on the women’s 4×100 free relay. She split a 54.57 to help the team to an 11th place finish.

Hrnčárová’s Best LCM Times (With SCY Conversions) Are:

  • 50 free: 25.38 (22.14)
  • 100 free: 56.53 (49.48)
  • 100 fly: 1:02.22 (54.79)
  • 200 IM: 2:21.52 (2:04.61)

The Virginia Tech women finished 9th out of 15 teams at the 2025 ACC Championships with 411.5 points, finishing just behind Pitt (462 points) and Florida State (467 points). The Hokie women went on to finish 20th at 2025 NCAAs with 37 total points.

Based on her best times, Hrnčárová has the potential to make an immediate impact upon her arrival to Virginia Tech. Her best converted time in the 50 free would already make the ACC ‘C’ final and is only 0.01 what it took to make the ‘B’ final. The Hokies had zero finalists in the 50 free at ACCs so she helps bring in some points. It took a 48.72 in the 100 free to make the ACC ‘C’ final.

In addition to her individual impact, she also brings relay potential. Her 50 free converted time would have been 2nd on the team this past season only behind Carmen Weiler Sastre, who represents Spain at the international level, as she swam a 22.11 at midseason.

Hrnčárová will arrive next fall as a member of the class of 2030 along with Lydia Cameron, Bianca Nannucci, and Ally Vernon.
