Futures finalist Sofia Ye, from Hanover, New Hampshire, has verbally committed to join the Johns Hopkins University swim team in the fall of 2026.
“I am thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to the admissions process at Johns Hopkins University to continue my academic and athletic career. Thank you to my coaches, family, and friends for supporting me, and special thanks to Coach Scott, Coach Chris, and Coach Mikaylie for this amazing opportunity! Go Blue Jays! 🩵”

Ye, a breaststroke specialist, swims for Upper Valley Aquatic Club and attends Hanover High School, where she is a senior this year. In July, she swam at the USA Swimming Futures Championships, where she qualified for finals in the 50 breaststroke, ultimately finishing 23rd in 34.54.
At the same meet, she set new personal best times in the 100 and 200 meter breaststroke events at 1:15.46 and 2:47.60, respectively. She also swam the 50 fly (32.04) and 200 IM (2:33.80).
In March, she swam at the Speedo Sectionals in Ithaca, where she qualified for finals in the 100 breast, finishing 6th in a personal best 1:03.58, and the 200 breast, where she finished 24th in 2:25.11
Ye is also a member of the New England Swimming Athletes Executive Committee.
Best Times SCY
- 50 free- 24.98
- 100 breast- 1:03.58
- 200 breast- 2:21.84
Johns Hopkins is a Division III school that will be joining the Centennial conference this fall, where they will swim their first conference meet since 2016.
Ye will step into the breaststroke program as one of the top swimmers for the college. Last season, the Blue Jays had two athletes under 1:04 in the 100, and both will be seniors this year, meaning Ye will likely take over relay duties as a freshman.
She will also be the fastest 200 breaststroker, as the same two athletes, Taylor Rohovit and Michelle Liu, would have been ahead of her, but will graduate before she arrives on campus.
Her 3rd event will likely be the 50 free, where her best time would have been 11th on the team last season.
