Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Kim Bomin from Gyeonggi Province in South Korea, has announced her intention to swim and study at the University of Florida, joining verbal commits Maddie Moreth and Quintilia Fidanza in the Gators’ class of 2030.
“I am grateful to everyone who helped me get this far. It is such a great honor to join such a prestigious school, and I am determined and willing to contribute to its excellence. I am ready to continue to lead myself to a new level of growth with the Gators. My goal is to mature not only as a student athlete but also as an individual and to embrace all the challenges and opportunities that are coming my way!”
Kim is in her senior year at Gamil High School and will move to Gainesville in the fall of 2026.
An IM and freestyle specialist, Kim has represented South Korea internationally since 2022, when she competed at the 8th FINA World Junior Swimming Championships in Lima, Peru. The following year, she swam at the 9th World Aquatics Junior Swimming Championships in Netanya, Israel, placing 25th in heats of the 200 free (2:05.18), 16th in the 800 free (8:55.87), and 13th in the 400 IM (4:53.49). She was a member of Team South Korea at the 2024 Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Canberra, Australia, and made finals in the 200 free (11th with a PB of 2:02.04), 400 free (7th, 4:18.33), and 200 IM (16th, 2:20.93). This past summer, Kim competed for South Korea at the 22nd World Aquatics Championships 2025 in Singapore, where she finished 19th in prelims of the 400 IM (4:51.55) and swam a leg on the 4×200 free relay (2:01.22).
Best LCM times (converted):
- 400 IM – 4:47.31 (4:13.07)
- 200 IM – 2:17.03 (2:00.57)
- 100 free – 56.88 (49.80)
- 200 free – 2:00.84 (1:45.98)
- 400 free – 4:16.22 (4:47.08)
In addition to what she’ll bring to her individual events (she would have been a ‘B’ finalist in the 400 IM and a ‘C’ finalist in the 200 free at SECs last season), she should provide a boost to Florida’s relays. It took 4:44.88 in the 500 free, 48.82 in the 100 free, and 1:59.04 in the 200 IM to score at the 2025 conference meet.
Gainesville is becoming increasingly international: four of the 10 freshmen on the Florida women’s roster are internationals (Brazil, Mexico, and Canada x2), while the men’s cohort is almost entirely from outside the United States. So far, class of 2026 internationals include Kim on the women’s side and Kim Junwoo (South Korea) and Tai Pearson (South Africa) on the men’s.
