Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Tierney Lenahan, a finalist at the 2025 U.S. National Championships and a “Best of the Rest” backstroker in our latest girls’ class of 2025 re-rank, is headed to North Carolina to compete for Duke University beginning in the fall of 2025.
Lenahan recently graduated from New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois, where she was a member of the varsity swimming and diving team during her sophomore and senior years. Originally from Washington state, Lenahan swam for Bainbridge High School her freshman year before moving to Illinois.
Lenahan currently trains year-round with NASA Wildcat Aquatics in Evanston, where she excels at backstroke and freestyle.
At the U.S. National Championships (LCM) in June, Lenahan earned a second swim in the 50 back and placed 29th overall with a season-best time of 29.61. She also contested the 100 back, finishing 49th in 1:03.86.
Lenahan turned in a series of top performances at the NCSA Spring Championship (SCY) in March. She won the 100 free in 48.55 and was the runner-up in the 100 back in 52.62, setting new lifetime bests in both events. She was the leadoff on both the 200 free relay and 200 medley relay, throwing down best times of 22.71 and 24.79, respectively. Lenahan also placed 3rd in the 50 back (24.88), 5th in the 50 free (22.99), 7th in the 200 back (1:56.53) and 20th in the 100 fly (54.92 – PB).
Lenahan is a four-time Illinois high school state champion, having won the 100 back at both the 2022 and 2024 IHSA Girls State Championships, clocking 55.09 and 53.20, respectively. She also helped New Trier to a victory in the 200 medley relay both years.
Most recently, Lenahan raced at the Futures Championship – Madison (LCM), where she was a part of three winning relays and posted a number of personal and season-best times. She placed 3rd in the 50 back (29.06), 5th in the 100 back (1:02.90 – SB) and 100 free (56.91 – SB), 10th in the 200 free (2:04.48 – PB) and 11th in the 200 back (2:18.62 – SB). Lenahan also set a season-best in the 50 free (26.22) as the leadoff on the 200 free relay and helped her team to victories in the 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay and 800 free relay.

- 200 free – 1:49.34

A Division I program, Duke is a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference and took 11th at the 2025 ACC Championships before sending four athletes on to compete at the NCAA Division I Women’s Championship in March. Based on the results from this past season, Lenahan would have landed in the ‘C’ final in the 100 free and 100 back, putting her in a position to be a valuable contributor right from the start.
Joining Lenahan in Durham this fall are Raylee Hunt, Heather White, Scarlett McGlinchey, Sidney Arcella and Neala Klein, who should all make for strong training partners over the next four years.
