Swedish Freestyler Linnea Sjöberg Headed to Colorado Mesa for 2025-26

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Linnea Sjöberg from Härnösand, Sweden, will swim and study at Colorado Mesa University this fall. At the time of her commitment, she wrote:

“I’m happy to announce my commitment to Colorado Mesa University and to continue my athletic and academic career there! I’m grateful for everyone supported me along the way and looking forward for what the future brings!⭐️ Go Mavs!!🤟”

Sjöberg graduated from Hedbergska Gymnasium this spring with the highest GPA in her class. She was a 3-sport athlete (soccer, handball, and swimming) until the age of 16, when she took up swimming full-time.

Sjöberg trains with the club team Njurunda Simsällskap and specializes in freestyle. At the 2024 Swedish Junior Championships last summer, she won the 200 free and set then-PBs of 59.59 in the 100 free, 2:06.93 in the 200 free, and 4:37.02 in the 400 free. This summer, she was a national long course champion in the 800 free relay and a bronze medalist in the 400 free relay. She placed 3rd in the 200 free at the Swedish U21 Long Course Nationals, as well as at the 2024 Swedish Junior Short Course Championships.

This spring, she lowered her PBs in all her freestyle events: the 50 free and 200 free at the Swedish Grand Prix in March, and the 100 free and 400 free at the Malmsten Swim Open in April.

Best LCM times:

  • 50 free – 27.68 (24.21)
  • 100 free – 58.28 (51.06)
  • 200 free – 2:05.20 (1:49.90)
  • 400 free – 4:31.76 (5:04.49)

Sjöberg will join the Colorado Mesa class of 2029 with Abby Uhl, Ava Bains, Ella Stack, Eva Lehmkuhler, and Georgia Hatzenbeller. The Mavericks handily won the women’s title at the 2025 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships. It took 23.79/ 52.80/ 1:52.41/ 5:04.97 to score in the ‘A’ finals and 24.44/ 53.46/ 1:55.06/ 5:10.37 to make the ‘B’ finals of the 50/100/200/500 free at the conference meet. And while converted times are not 100% accurate –and should only be viewed only as indicative of how she might perform in a 25-yard pool– it is clear that Sjöberg has the potential be a major impact player for CMU next season.
