16 year old Colin Jacobs swam to the 4th fastest 15-16 800 freestyle all-time touching in a 7:55.50 for 2nd in Irvine. That moved him up after previously sitting at #16 all time with his best time of a 8:01.99 that he swam just last week at Summer Juniors also in Irvine.

All-Time Top 15-16 Boys LCM 800 Free

  1. Larsen Jensen, 7:52.05, 2002
  2. Luka Mijatovic, 7:53.80, 2025
  3. Bobby Finke, 7:55.16, 2016
  4. Colin Jacobs, 7:55.50, 2025
  5. Evan Pinion, 7:55.92, 2011
  6. Luke Ellis, 7:56.40, 2023

Jacobs notably sits just behind Luka Mijatovic and Bobby Finke, both of which represented the US this past week at the 2025 World Championships. Finke is the American Record holder in the 800 free with a lifetime best 7:38.67 that he swam at the 2023 World Championships.

Jacobs has seen huge progress in the event over the last year as he entered the season with a lifetime best of a 8:18.21 from the Pro Series stop in San Antonio back in April 2024.

Also moving up the all-time rankings but in the 17-18 age group was Gabriel Manteufel who posted a 7:54.71 in his win. That moves him up to #11 all-time for 17-18 boys. His previous time of a 8:02.18 sat a #44 all-time in the 17-18 age group.

With their swims tonight, Manteufel’s time would have been 6th at US Summer Nationals in June while Jacobs would have been right behind in 7th.

Canada,France or the USA.Assuming he can swim for any of these 3,I believe he should swim for Canada.Looking at his times he is under 15 30.France has 5 swimmers under 15 30 ,USA has 26 under 15 30,Canada has 1. 800 free France has 8 under 8 10, USA has 30 under 8 10,Canada has 3.These stats are similar in 400 free and 200 free.So if going as far as you can in swimming up to and including the Olympics his path is wide open in Canada, possible but down the road in France, and very unlikely in the USA.Saying the training in Europe is better than North America while true is immaterial.Nothing is stopping him from training in Europe even if… Read more »

His Instagram indicates US jr team. But didn’t he start out in Canada? Could be the second Mr worldwide.
