Day seven of the 2025 World Championships brought us heats of the women’s 50 freestyle, an event in which Australian 23-year-old Meg Harris captured the top seed.
Olympic medalist Harris stopped the clock at a rapid 24.32 to land a middle lane for this evening’s semi-finals; however, her swim didn’t come off hitch-free.
Apparently the Aussie needed to tap into one of her teammate’s goggle arsenal at the last minute.
Per Harris’ Instagram story today, she needed to borrow teammate and World Championships gold medalist Mollie O’Callaghan‘s goggles.
Unfamiliar with the fit, Harris’ new goggles had an extra long strap hanging down as seen in the IG story snapshots.
“Mollie O coming in clutch with the spare goggles last second. She just forgot to tell me how to wear them.” is how Harris contextualized her social media post.
The potential extra drag didn’t seem to bother Harris as she will take on the 50m free semi-finals this evening in Singapore.

How do you wear them? Is there a trick or secret?
