Colin Geer Posts Lifetime Best 1:59.48 200 IM To Close Columbus Sectionals

After winning the 200 fly last night, Colin Geer posted another notable swim on the final night in Columbus. Geer swam to a 1:59.48 in the 200 IM to win by over three seconds. The swim also marked a new lifetime best for the rising junior at Michigan as his previous best was a 1:59.68 that he swam in prelims at US Summer Nationals last month.

The boys 800 free was a tight race. After winning the 1500 free on night 1, Isaac Fleig came away with the win touching in a 8:09.57. That was about eight seconds off his lifetime best 8:01.97 that he swam at 2024 US Olympic Trials for 19th. Finishing behind Fleig was Thomas Frost who touched in a 8:10.30.

Winning the 100 freestyle was Austin Carpenter who touched in a 49.71. He was slightly faster in prelims with a 49.52, a best time as well. Touching behind him was Jack Wilkening, who dropped about half a second off his best time to break the 50 second mark for the first time as well with a 49.78.  Rising Michigan junior Jaeddan Gamilla won the boys 50 breast in a 28.46.

Highlighting the girls side on the final night was Rachel Bockrath who earned another win at the meet. She swam to a 55.01 in the 100 free, marking a new lifetime best. Bockrath’s previous best was a 55.36 that she swam in a time trial last month at US Summer Nationals, and she entered the summer with a best time of a 55.79.

The 1500 freestyle was the closest race on the girls side as 16 year old Emily Wolf earned the win in a 17:16.58. Her previous best was a 18:32.18 from summer 2022. The swim would have been 38th at US Summer Nationals. Touching close behind Wolf was Amelia Leonard who swam a 17:16.93.

Paige Delma earned the win in a 200 IM touching in a 2:17.31, under her previous best of a 2:17.38 that she swam for 23rd at US Summer Nationals in prelims. Lainey Mullins was 2nd in a 2:18.99.

Also earning a win on the final night was Joleigh Crye who won the 50 breast in a 31.69. Crye won the 100 breast last night as well.
