The 2025 Antwerp Diamond Speedo Race is set for this weekend, with the two-day Belgian competition representing a qualification opportunity for this summer’s World Championships in Singapore.
Although last year’s edition carried high-profile talent to the tune of Romanian Olympic champion David Popovici, there are still a number of swimmers ready to race to keep things speedy.
One such competitor is national record holder Roos Vanotterdijk.
20-year-old Vanotterdijk will hope to carry her momentum from the Flanders Swimming Cup she competed at in February as well as last month’s Edinburgh International. At the former, Vanotterdijk logged a season-best of 53.62 in the women’s 100m free, a new lifetime best and Belgian national record, while at the latter she produced a 50m fly result of 25.71.
She also notched a lifetime best of 58.97 in the 100m back in Flanders to establish a new national benchmark. For her efforts, Vanotterdijk currently ranks 3rd in the world in the 100m free and 50m fly as well as 3rd in the world in the 1back.
Dutch swimmer Milou van Wijk is also entered in this weekend’s competition, with the 20-year-old also having been busy thus far this 2025 calendar year.
Van Wijk ranks 3rd in the world in the 50m free (24.48) and 2nd in the 100m free (53.51), performances she also notched at the aforementioned competitions.
Additional athletes expected in Antwerp include Florine Gaspard, Eszter Szabo-Feltothy, Stan Franckx and Kinge Zandringa.
