Panama City Swim Team’s Pohaku Rademacher took down two Southeastern Swimming LSC Records that had been on the books for 41 years over the weekend at the Best of the South meet in Atlanta.
Rademacher, 12, first clocked 1:48.37 in the 200 free, placing 2nd in the boys’ 11-12 age group behind SwimAtlanta’s Parker Wheeler, who posted a blistering 1:47.69.
Rademacher’s swim took down Chas Morton‘s longstanding Southeastern LSC Record for 11-12 boys of 1:48.98, set in 1984, while it also moved him into a tie for 50th all-time in the boys’ 11-12 age group.
Wheeler, also, 12, jumped up to 27th all-time.
Two days later in the meet in the 100 free, Rademacher claimed the victory over Wheeler, 49.22 to 49.30, breaking another Morton LSC Record from 1984. Morton’s previous record stood at 49.46.
Morton was a record-breaking machine during his age group days in the 1980s, rewriting NAG records in the 10 & under, 11-12 and 13-14 age groups while with the Nashville Aquatic Club.
Rademacher came into the meet with best times of 50.47 in the 100 free and 1:51.41 in the 200 free—he lowered his 100 free PB to 50.41 in the prelims before dropping down to 49.22 in the final.
In the historical rankings, Rademacher vaults into #19 all-time in the boys’ 11-12 age group, while Wheeler’s best time of 49.23 now has him tied for 20th.
In February, Rademacher broke LSC Records in the boys’ 11-12 50 back (25.84) and 50 fly (24.37), with the 50 fly mark having previously belonged to Morton at 24.50 from 1984. The 50 back record previously belonged to Taylor Williams, who clocked 26.16 in February 2015.
Although Morton’s records have slowly been chipped away at by Southeastern swimmers over the last few years, he still owns seven LSC records for 9-10 boys, four for 11-12s, and two for 13-14s in short course yards.
Parker is insane
He’s on route to becoming a bigger American hero than his old man
100% correct Milo! I am just Pohaku’s dad now. Which I couldn’t be more happier about. 😂
Ingo! Congratulations from the Alpha Aquatics family. That’s awesome to see Pohaku is still slaying!
