Day two of the TYR Pro Swim Series saw numerous new records and fast performances from some of the best swimmers in the world, but they weren’t the only ones that swam fast, just the well known ones.
Here are some of the swims that might not have made our live recaps, but still deserve to be highlighted.
Madison Kryger finished 14th in the women’s 100 freestyle dropping more than a second to come in at 56.40, improving from the 57.55 that was her previous best time in the event. Some of this drop came from the 57.12 she went in the prelims to qualify 15th.
In the prelims of the men’s 100 freestyle, 21-year-old Kamal Muhammad swam 50.72 to qualify for the ‘B’ final at 15th. This was over a second faster than his previous best time of 51.84 from November of 2023. He scratched the final.
Finn Winkler from the Fishers Area Swim Team also saw a significant drop in the prelims, swimming 50.80 to drop from his previous best of 51.41. He went 51.07 in the finals of the event to finish 14th overall.
14-year-old Taylor Bennett finished 11th in the ‘B’ final of the women’s 100 breaststroke, coming in at 1:12.22 in the 100 breaststroke finals to finish 11th overall. She came in with a lifetime best of 1:12.99 in the event, marking a seven tenth drop in the event.
The Bolles School Sharks had a few fast swims in the men’s 100 breaststroke final. Lucas Young finished 9th in the event at 1:03.26, which was almost nine tenths faster than the 1:04.15 he came in with. The Sharks also had 12th place finisher Louis Joos who swam 1:03.94, which was also about nine tenths faster than his previous best time of 1:04.86.
Braden Meurer also had a very strong swim in the men’s 100 breaststroke prelims, qualifying 15th for the final in 1:04.38. His previous best in the event was 1:05.86 from July 2024.
16-year-old Maya Hetland qualified for the ‘A’ final in the 200 fly, swimming 2:15.83 in the prelims to drop three-and-a-half seconds from her lifetime best in the event of 2:19.14 from July of 2023. The ASU commit went on to finish 5th in the final, adding just a bit from her prelims time to touch in 2:16.29.
18-year-old Manuel Diaz from Mission Viejo qualified 10th in the prelims of the 200 fly, stopping the clock at 2:05.53. He went even faster in finals, finishing 11th at 2:05.23, for more than a second drop from his previous best time of 2:06.33 from May of 2023.
