Josh Liendo Carrying Momentum from Paris Podium into 2025 NCAA Season

After coming off of a sensational NCAA season, Josh Liendo kept his momentum rolling in Paris, walking away with a silver medal in the 100 fly. The Canadian sprint star was also a part of a podium that featured 2 Canadians, himself and Ilya Kharun in the 100 fly, which is the first time that has happened since 1976.

Liendo breaks down his performances in Paris, revealing how he approached his program from a mental and physical standpoint. He talks about technique in butterfly and freestyle and what changes he felt were integral to earning his spot on the podium.

The Florida junior also previews the coming NCAA season, noting that we may see him competing in a 200 IM or 200 fly at a dual meet or mid-season competition.

In the SwimSwam Podcast dive deeper into the sport you love with insider conversations about swimming. Hosted by Coleman Hodges and Gold Medal Mel Stewart, SwimSwam welcomes both the biggest names in swimming that you already know, and rising stars that you need to get to know, as we break down the past, present, and future of aquatic sports.

Respect to the guy for his hard work but his ceiling would be much higher if he transferred to an actual swim program at McKendree, then he’d cement himself at a top 5 NCAA swimmer oat.

Ah yes… Florida really has had a terrible history and even current wave of swimmers.
Liendo was a great prospect and maybe he’d always be great, but there is no denying he has gotten SIGNIFICANTLY better in the last few years… and he happens to be at Florida.
Are there potentially better fits? sure, maybe, who knows. To say there is a definitive better option just shows you are either uninformed or too biased to provide reasonable perspective.

Out of any guy currently in the NCAA, he probably has the highest ceiling and highest potential to cement himself as a Top 10 (5?) NCAA swimmer of all time

Just telling it like it is. He’s always the bridesmaid, never the bride. Always comes up short when you need him.

Yeah, like when he won all those NCAA titles last season.

If you offered to swap him with any swimmer on the US roster right now, it would be an immediate take minus Finke. And it still might be close cause of the relay value Liendo brings….
If thats a bridesmaid, id gladly take her home.

Liendo in a 200im would be interesting to see. We haven’t really seen what his breastroke or backstroke is like, so not sure if he would be as successful as Caleb was there

I bet it would be pretty nasty. Even if he isn’t a great breaststroker his underwaters are so good and he’s strong he could fake it
