The most decorated Olympian of all time, Michael Phelps, and hip hop legend Snoop Dogg took a break from their busy week of NBC Olympic coverage to hit the water for a quick swimming lesson in Paris.

“How does one get so fast in the pool?” Snoop asked while covered from head to toe in an American flag robe.

“Wingspan, lungpower,” responded Phelps.

“You just described me,” Snoop joked. “I definitely have great lung power. And I do have a swimmer’s body. Our bodies are similar, Mike, we could be twins.”

Snoop seemed confident at the start, turning down goggles because he can “see real good without them.” But by the end of the video, the 52-year-old was wearing goggles and crediting Phelps for making it look “too easy.”

At one point, the 39-year-old Phelps pushes off the wall underwater, demonstrating smooth dolphin kicks on his back.

“Okay flipper,” Snoop said. “That was gangster.”

Snoop was in attendance for the first finals session of pool swimming in Paris, watching the men’s 4×100 freestyle relay secure Team USA’s first gold medal of the Olympics this summer. He even celebrated the win alongside Caeleb Dressel‘s wife, Meghan, exchanging a high five after Dressel anchored the Americans to victory.

Swimming isn’t the only sport Snoop has tried out so far in Paris. He also received some fencing training from British-American foil fencer Miles Chamley-Watson, offering some hilarious commentary in the process.

On Friday, Snoop was one of the final torch bearers in the opening ceremony.

Snoop is awesome. I love that guy!!!

Good for NBC for including him. He brings fun and entertainment to the mix. Swimming needs to broaden its fan base so smart to make it more fun and entertaining. That was a excellent clip.

Also, it was cool how they interviewed Finke’s sister during the 800 M final.

I don’t understand this at all… why is NBC planting a 90s-era rapper everywhere in its Olympics coverage? He was sitting with Jordan Chiles’s parents during the gymnastics.

Which is most US adults now, I actually almost have a hard time believing the stats but man things have rapidly changed since Phelps got dragged through the mud for hitting a bong

He did ok for a guy that doesn’t swim laps. We are use to elite swimmers here but the average A/B age group swimmer is much faster than the general public not just Michael Phelps. About 40 to 50 percent of the population can swim 25 yards of freestyle.
