Four swimmers from Indian River State College have signed NLIs to compete at the Division I level next fall, each of them Junior College national champions.
Marc Rojas was the Junior College national champ last season in the mile. His top times are 4:33.52 in the 500 and 15:38.80 in the 1650. He signed on with Florida State University. Read more about his commitment here.
Patricia Casellas will swim for Florida Southern. She’s a breastroker with times of 1:02.30 in the 100 and 2:17.58 in the 200, winning both events at the NJCAA championships last season, adding in another win in the 50 free. She also looks like a strong relay option, considering she was a part of Indian River’s winning efforts in the 200 and 400 medley relays and the 200 and 400 free relays at NJCAAs.
Yuri Nakano is a multi-stroke sprinter who won national championships in the 100 fly, 100 back, and 100 free. Her top times include 53.27 in the 100 fly, 54.35 in the 100 back, and 50.02 in the 100 free. She has signed with North Carolina State University. Read more about her commitment here.
Heinrich Alberts was a national champ in both butterfly races for Indian River. His top times are 47.59 and 1:47.22 in the butterfly races and 21.04 in the 50 free. He’s signed on with UNLV for next season. Read more about his commitment here.
