LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Swimming & Diving’s first of two home meets in as many weeks to usher in the new year brought a return to the win column Saturday afternoon at the Siena Swim Center. The Saints (4-6-1) took down Stonehill 171-98 in their third home dual meet of the 2023-24 season.

The Green and Gold won 12 of 16 events on the day to claim their first home dual meet win of the year and their third in just over a year against the Skyhawks.

The team of freshman Mea Amedio, junior Olivia Martin, freshman Camryn Raines, and graduate student Rory Kalac kicked things off with a winning time of 1:50.00 in the 200 medley relay, while freshman Hope Ivanovich (10:54.26) and senior Audrey Shultz (10:55.29) went 1-2 in the 1,000 free with a pair of impressive marks.

Junior Kylie Carter (1:58.94), junior Maddie Buck (1:59.33) and Kalac (1:59.49) took each of the top three spots in the 200 free, while freshman Carsyn Ide (1:01.13) snagged third place in the 100 back.

Amedio (1:09.52) and Martin (1:09.91) went 2-3 in the 100 breast, while Ivanovich (2:14.67) and senior Demi Bobarakis (2:18.82) took first and third in the 200 fly, and Kalac (24.72), freshman Natalie Blume (25.35), and sophomore Mya Reed (26.02) performed a sweep in the 50 free.

Blume (54.75), junior Shaylea Triller (55.66), and Raines (56.14) took the top three spots in the 100 free, While Amedio claimed first in the 200 back (2:10.92). The top three spots in the 200 breast went to Carter (2:29.31), Shultz (2:32.26), and Martin (2:37.20), while Buck (5:33.84) and freshman Maria Candelora (5:33.84) claimed the top two places in the 500 free.

Ivanovich (59.61) and Bobarakis (1:02.16) led the way in the 100 fly, while Amedio (2:13.36) posted the top time for Siena in the 200 IM. The Saints ended the meet with the team of Ivanovich, Buck, Kalac, and Carter narrowly missing the pool record in the 800 free relay with a time of 8:02.13.

Senior Talia Spenziero once again led the way in both diving events with a score of 231.43 in one-meter and a tally of 212.65 in three-meter.

Siena will conclude regular season dual meet action by honoring its four seniors next Sunday when it hosts MAAC foe Saint Peter’s at the Siena Swim Center on Sunday, January 28 at 12:30 PM.

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. (January 20, 2024) – Stonehill College picked up two event wins to highlight its second dual meet of the week, battling Siena College which notched a 171-98 victory in a dual meet at the Siena Swim Center this afternoon.

Senior Sydney Stockwell led the way again for Stonehill with two individual top-three finishes, while also helping Stonehill’s 200-yard medley relay to a close second place finish. Stockwell and freshman Grace Idowu swept the top two positions in the 100-yard backstroke. Stockwell finished in 59.92 seconds, while Idowu posted a time of 1:00.72 and then sophomore Mazy Karuzis finished fifth in 1:04.47.

Stockwell followed up her 100-yard win with a second-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:11.48, with postgrad Nika Sokolova right behind in third in 2:16.19.

Sophomore Taylor Belanger earned a win in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing in 1:09.14, edging Siena’s Mea Amedio (1:09.52) by 0.38 seconds.

Stockwell, Belanger and Idowu were also part of Stonehill’s 200-yard medley relay that was narrowly edged by Siena (1:50.00) by less than a half second in 1:50.48. Stockwell opened with a 27.98-second opening backstroke leg, followed by Belanger’s 30.85-second breaststroke leg, and then Idowu competed the butterfly leg in 25.24 seconds before sophomore Kristy Barry finished the freestyle anchor leg in 25.24.

Stockwell capped her day by being scored first in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:19.77, while junior Sharlotte Lundell was scored second in a season-best 2:28.66. Stockwell opened with a 30.27-second split for the lead butterfly leg, before completing the backstroke leg in 35.11 seconds and then added a 41.83 split for the breaststroke before finishing the freestyle anchor in 32.56 seconds. Lundell turned in splits of 31.20, 39.07, 42.15 and 36.24 seconds.

Sophomore Azia Koser added three top-three finishes for Stonehill, placing second in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:18.69. She also finished third in the 1000-yard freestyle in 11:41.57 and third in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:02.49 – just 0.33 behind Siena’s Demi Bobarakis (1:02.16) in second. Senior Katie Keating followed in fourth in the 100-yard fly in 1:04.27.

Freshman Isabella Rodriguez posted a top three finish in the 500-yard freestyle, taking third in a personal-best 5:37.73, while sophomore Kristy Barry finished fourth in a personal-best 5:41.93.

  • Lundell finished fourth in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:30.74, while Rodriguez was fifth in a collegiate-best 2:38.28.
  • Idowu finished fifth in the 50-yard freestyle in 26.36 seconds. Sophomore Isabel Nelson finished sixth in 26.91 seconds and Belanger seventh in 27.35.
  • Idowu was also fifth in the 100-yard freestyle in 56.83 seconds, followed by Keating in sixth at 59.45.
  • Barry, Sokolova and Rodriguez were scored in fifth through seventh in the 200-yard freestyle. Barry clocked in at 2:04.94, while Sokolova posted a time of 2:05.91 and Rodriguez finished in 2:11.64.
  • Senior Maddie Conley finished fourth in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:44.13, while junior Jami Hepburn was fifth in 2:44.60 and senior Morgan Gangi sixth in 2:49.76.
  • Hepburn also finished fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:14.44, while Conley finished sixth in a season-best 1:15.74.
  • Stonehill’s 800-yard freestyle relay capped the afternoon by being scored first in 8:35.78. Koser opened with a 2:08.89 leg, followed by Sokolova (2:07.07), Conley (2:12.87) and then Barry (2:06.95).
