BOISE, Idaho – More national champions were crowned as the action continued on day two of the 2026 U.S. Paralympics Swimming National Championships at the Idaho Central Aquatic Center in Boise, Idaho.
Dillon Mezey (Colorado Springs, Colorado; S3) cemented himself in the Paralympic swimming records book by breaking two American records. The S3 swimmer shattered the American record in the men’s 50-meter butterfly by more than 40 seconds with a time of 1:02.02 and followed it up by setting a new American record in the men’s 50 freestyle during the morning prelims, finishing in 54.72.
Fifteen-year-old Josie Dolan (Phoenix, Arizonia; S9) also made her mark on day two, winning the women’s 100 breaststroke and placing third in the women’s 50 freestyle for her first two podium finishes at the national championships.
Koehn Boyd (Ramsey, Minnesota; S10) added two more medals to his haul, bringing his meet total to five through two days of competition. He won the men’s 200 butterfly in 2:08.44 and later placed second in the men’s 50 freestyle.
The men’s 50 freestyle was one of the most electric races of the day as Noah Jaffe (Carlsbad, California; S8) earned his first gold medal of the meet. Boyd placed second, while Noah Busch (Saint Petersburg, Florida; S9) followed in third for his first podium finish of the championships. Jaffe later returned to the podium, placing third in the men’s 100 backstroke.
After finishing second in the 100-meter butterfly on Friday, Lawrence Sapp (Waldorf, Maryland; S14) claimed gold in the men’s 100 backstroke with a time of 1:04.04, while Aiden Stivers (Fortville, Indiana; S9) also earned his first gold medal of the meet, posting a 1:11.14 in the men’s 100 breaststroke.
After breaking an American record on day one, Piper Sadowski (Grand Rapids, Michigan; S14) earned silver in the women’s 100 backstroke. Fellow U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center resident athlete Liberty Freeman (Oro Valley, Arizona; S9) captured her first gold medal of the meet with a winning time of 1:15.66 in the 100 backstroke.
Paralympians Leanne Smith (Salem, Muschettes; S9) and McKenzie Coan (Clarkesville, Georgia; S7) joined the action Saturday. Smith won the women’s 50 breaststroke in 1:03.54 and later added a second gold in the women’s 50 freestyle. Coan finished second in the 50 freestyle behind Smith.
The national championships come to a close tomorrow, Sunday June 13 with preliminary heats beginning at 9 a.m. MT and finals at 5:30 p.m. MT. All events are contested in multiclass format, with results determined using the World Para Swimming points system to create an equitable field of play across classifications.
