Volunteers and Hoosiers Each Pick Up Another

The Tennessee Volunteers and the Indiana Hoosiers have each picked up a verbal commitment tonight.  For the Volunteers, Alex Cleveland and the Hoosiers have picked up Cody Taylor.

Cleveland reigns from the Zionsville Swim club in Indiana.  She is a combo sprinter in both Freestyle and Backstroke.  Her 50 and 100 Free times are 22.95 and 50.24, respectively, both good enough for Summer Juniors while her 100 Backstroke is 55.83 and qualified her for Winter Nationals.  She will look to add to the sprinting core of Tennessee under head coach Matt Kredich that produced an SEC Champion last year in Faith Johnson.

For Taylor he reigns from the Donner Swim Club in Indiana and he is a member of the 2013-2014 USA Swimming National Junior Team in the 200 Breaststroke.  He qualified for that by swimming a 2:16.12 (LCM) at  Summer Juniors.  He also brings a solid 100 Breast to the table with a 1:04.01/55.25 (LCM/SCY).  He can add to the Hoosier Relays and in the Breaststroke individual events as well.

Is Tennessee in the mix or leading for any other elite recruits? I figured they would be reeling them in after their success last year, but they seem to be getting off to a slow start.

Are there many elite prospects left?

The Hoosiers are on fire right now. This recruiting class is already one of the best in the country.

IU does not cheat, they have built a program from ground up and our trying to restore the luster of years gone by, am glad they got Cody, he will go as fast as he allows himself to do as goes with all swimmers anywhere anytime and anyplace. Way to keep the talent at home, not always easy Jim S
