BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo women’s swimming & diving team (4-0, 3-0 MAC) defeated the Miami (OH) RedHawks (2-3, 1-2 MAC) on Saturday afternoon, 178-122. The team improved their win streak to 13 while capturing just their second ever victory over the RedHawks in program history.
IN THE POOL
The team started the day off with a dominant win in the 200 medley relay. Mia Naccarella, Katie Pollock, Jillian Lawton, and Toni Naccarella won in 1:42.64. Maddy McDonough, Taeghen Brezovski, Clarice Fisher, and Ellie Duley claimed third in 1:46.42 just getting edged out for second place by the RedHawks.
Senior Jaidyn Wolfe finished second in the 1000 freestyle (10:39.60) and the 400 IM (4:33.46).
M. Naccarella and McDonough had solid performances in the 100 backstroke with M. Naccarella winning the event in 56.59-seconds and McDonough claiming third in 56.96-seconds. McDonough went on to win the 200 backstroke in 2:02.11.
Pollock won her specialty event in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:03.02.
In the 200 butterfly, Fisher and Amanda Neeb game the one-two punch as they finished first and second, respectively. Fisher won the event in 2:05.15 with Neeb just behind in a time of 2:06.10.
Lawton and T. Naccarella continued their dominance in the 50 freestyle. Lawton won in 23.42-seconds with T. Naccarella finishing in third in 23.78-seconds.
Prior to the final two events, Lawton, Neeb, Fisher, and Duley finished 1-2-3-4 in the 100 butterfly. School record holder Lawton won in 55.17-seconds as Neeb (56.37-seconds), Fisher (57.08-seconds), and Duley (57.50-seconds) followed her guidance.
To close out the day, UB finished first and third in the 400 freestyle relay. Neeb, Lawton, T. Naccarella, and Sawyer Bosley won in 3:25.43. Abbey Malmstrom, Marij van der Mast, Maddy Rogan, and Grace Wood claimed third in 3:36.23.
IN THE DIVING WELL
Junior diver Victoria Franz continued her dominant season as she won the 1 and 3-meter dives. To start the day, she scored an astounding 331.35 points in the 3-meter. She followed up with 319.43 points in the 1-meter. Freshman Marialis Kwak claimed second in the 3-meter (304.80) as Patricia Arceri finished third (292.73). With a second place finish in the 1-meter, Arceri improved her top-10 score to fourth in program history with 292.13 points. Kwak followed up by also improving her score to sixth in program history with 289.80 points with a third place finish.

UP NEXT
The Bulls will wrap up the regular season as they hit the road next week to take on the Ball State Cardinals (2-1, 0-0 MAC) at noon EST.

The Miami University women’s swimming and diving team came up just short in a visit to Buffalo on Saturday, Jan. 22. The meet ended with the RedHawks down 178-122 despite numerous first place and top three finishes for Miami swimmers.
How It Happened:
- Nicole Maier dominated her individual events, placing first in the 200 freestyle (1:49.56), the 100 freestyle (50.93) and the 400 individual medley (4:25.94). The sophomore also helped bring the A relay team to a second place finish in the 400 freestyle relay alongside Honor Brodie-Foy, Madeline Padavic and Angelina Cakuls for a combined time of 3:29.79.
- Other top placements came from Natalie Stump in the 1000 freestyle (10:33.44), Anna Martin in the 200 breaststroke (2:21.64) and Katheryn Antonowich in the 500 freestyle (5:11.26).
- In the 200 medley relay, the Miami A relay team of Padavic, Sara Lahrach-Sanchez and Emily O’Connell came in second with a combined time of 1:45.86.
- The RedHawks also pulled out several second place finished with Cakuls in the 100 backstroke (56.66) and 200 backstroke (2:03.26), Lahrach-Sanchez in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.97) and Brodie-Foy in the 50 freestyle (23.63).
- In diving events, Madeline Lutzko left with scores of 232.28 in the three meter and 203.93 in the one meter while Vivian Niekamp came out with scores of 193.88 in the three meter and 221.70 in the one meter.
