CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior Felicia Pasadyn won three individual events, and first-years Aleksandra Denisenko, Molly Hamlin, and Amy Wotovich each took two individual events as Harvard University women’s swimming and diving totaled 13 event victories on its way to a 203-97 win over Brown University on Tuesday in its home opener at Blodgett Pool.
Competing at home for the first time since Jan. 15, 2020 – a span of 720 days – the Crimson (5-0, 4-0 Ivy) captured 13 of the meet’s 16 events and added eight second-place showings and 13 third-place finishes to top the visiting Bears (1-4, 1-4 Ivy).
The Crimson captured nine individual swimming events in addition to two relay wins and two diving wins. Pasadyn took the top spot in the 200 butterfly, 200 backstroke, and 200 IM, Denisenko won in the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke, and Hamlin captured first in the 100 freestyle and 100 butterfly. All three student-athletes also helped Harvard win the 200 medley relay.
In the diving portion of the meet, Wotovich posted the Crimson’s top score this season in both the 3-meter event (321/53) and 1-meter event (286.88) with a pair of scores above the NCAA standard. Harvard claimed the top three spots in both diving events.
Junior Samantha Shelton took first in the 200 freestyle, first-year Erin Cavanagh won the 500 freestyle, and the Crimson captured the 400 freestyle relay.
Harvard Highlights
- Senior Felicia Pasadyn tallied her first individual victory of the day in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:00.61. She followed that with a victory in the 200-yard backstroke behind a time of 1:59.30. Her final individual win of the meet came in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:01.83.
- The Crimson swept the top three spots in both the 3-meter and 1-meter diving events. First-year Amy Wotovich won both events with scores of 321.53 in the 3-meter and 286.88 in the 1-meter with both scores standing as season highs for the team. She eclipsed the NCAA standards in both the 3M (280) and 1M (265). Sophomore Elizabeth Miclau came in second in the 3M with an NCAA standard score of 303.68 and third in the 1M in 255.75. First-year Katie Laverty placed second in the 1M with an NCAA standard score of 285.98 and third in the 3M with a 272.63.
- First-year Aleksandra Denisenko took the first of her two victories with a time of 1:05.57 in the 100-yard breaststroke while sophomore Victoria Eisenhauer followed her with a time of 1:06.01 for second. Denisenko later captured first in the 200-yard breaststroke with a 2:21.62 ahead of senior Mikki Thompson who placed second in 2:22.54.
- First-year Molly Hamlin captured a pair of individual events beginning with the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 51.93 prior to the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 56.49. Sophomore Addie Rose Bullock came in third in the 100 free in 53.10.
- First-year Erin Cavanagh won the 500-yard freestyle in 4:59.40, edging Brown’s Sara Barrett by 0.50 seconds. Junior Samantha Shelton finished third in 5:06.91.
- The Crimson went 1-2-3 in the 200-yard freestyle behind junior Samantha Shelton (1:51.75), sophomore Kate Hazlett (1:52.35), and first-year Erin Cavanagh (1:52.57).
- The quartet of senior Felicia Pasadyn, first-year Aleksandra Denisenko, sophomore Addie Rose Bullock, and first-year Molly Hamlin opened the meet with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:44.84.
- The Crimson closed the meet with a victory in the 400-yard freestyle relay as the group of sophomore Kate Hazlett, junior Darlene Fung, first-year Erin Cavanagh, and sophomore Addie Rose Bullock clocked in at 3:29.79.
- In the 1000-yard freestyle, junior Marcella Ruppert-Gomez came in second in 10:22.41, and first-year Carlie Rose placed third in 10:35.07.
- In the 100-yard backstroke, junior Athena Ye (57.40) and sophomore Addie Rose Bullock (57.71) came in second and third respectively.
- Junior Darlene Fung came in second in the 50-yard freestyle in 23.90, and first-year Molly Hamlin came in third in 24.17.
- Harvard improved to 35-9 all-time vs. Brown.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Brown women’s swimming began 2022 with three individual wins against Harvard on Tuesday (Jan. 4). The Bears lost the dual meet 203-97.
The first win of the day came from Sara Barrett with a victory in the 1000 freestyle. Barrett won the race by over four seconds in a time of 10:18.31. Bella Antoniuk finished fourth with a time of 10:39.90. In the 500 free, Barrett took second (4:59.90) and Antoniuk was fifth (5:08.78).
Reznicek earned another win in the 100 backstroke this season, cruising to a win by more than two seconds in a time of 55.38. The final individual win of the meet came from Scott, winning the 50 freestyle in by .02, with a time of 23.88.
“Jumping right back into racing in 2022 was an important move for this year’s team,” said head coach Kate Kovenock. “Having the opportunity to compete is something we are all thankful for right now. We have plenty to get back to work on before honoring our seniors at our last home meet on the 15th.”
The Bears began the day with a second-place finish in the 200 yard medley relay as the team of Jenna Reznicek, Kellie Willhite, Sage Matsushima and Samantha Scott touched the wall in 1:45.27.
Anna Podurgiel was the top finisher for Brown in both the 100 and 200 yard freestyle races. In the 100 free, Podurgiel finished second with a time of 52.70 and the freshman was fourth in the 200 with a time of 1:54.12.
Willhite took third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:06.05, followed by Ellie Brault (1:06.65) and Audrey Lukawski (1:06.91).
Nell Chidley finished second with a time of 2:06.66 in the 200 butterfly and teammate Emma Whall was fourth with a time of 2:09.73.
Julia Feord was the top finisher for the Bears in the 3-meter event with 243.53 points. Sophie Elwyn (236.33) finished in a tie for fifth and Megan Aho (232.80) took seventh.
Feord was fourth in the 1-meter as well, scoring 247.13 points with Megan Aho (222.75) finished fifth and Sophie Elwyn (214.28) taking sixth.
In the 200 backstroke, Emily Clements took second for Brown, posting a time of 2:02.51. Reznicek finished in second in the 100 butterfly (56.74), and Miku Takabayashi was second in the 200 IM (2:06.74).
The Bears’ team of Scott, Audrey Orange, Barrett and Antoniuk were second in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:34.04 to close out the meet.
Brown will return to the pool for its final home meet of the season on Saturday, Jan. 15 against Columbia at 12 p.m.
