2021 NJCAA 50/100/200 Back Champion Alejandro Robles Ruiz Transfers to SVSU

Alejandro Robles Ruiz from Granada, Spain has announced his plans to transfer to Saginaw Valley State University next fall after two years at Southwestern Oregon Community College.

“I chose SVSU because it is the best place to develop my academic and swimming career. I can not wait to swim with them next fall!”

Robles Ruiz left a permanent mark in his two years of swimming for SWOCC, leaving behind school records in the 200 free, 50 back, 100 back, 200 back, 400 free relay, 800 free, relay, 200 medley relay, and 400 medley relay.

At the 2021 National Junior College Athletic Association Swimming and Diving Championships, he swept the 50/100/200 backstroke events and came in third in the 50 free. He also contributed to the runner-up 400 medley relay, 3rd-place 400 free and 200 medley relays, and 4th-place 800 free relay, helping Southwest Oregon finish 3rd in the men’s team standings.

Best SCY times:

  • 50 back – 23.03
  • 100 back – 49.62
  • 200 back – 1.49.48
  • 50 free – 20.78
  • 200 free – 1:40.17

Robles Ruiz would have been SVSU’s top backstroker this season and would have scored in the A finals of the 200 free and 100/200 back at 2021 GLIAC Championships. He also would have made an impact on the Cardinals’ relays. Also suiting up for Saginaw Valley next season will be South African Eric Slabbert.
