NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State swimming and diving team was honored among the country’s best academic programs, as the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) included the Redbirds on its Scholar All-America list for the Fall 2020 semester.

Illinois State posted a cumulative team grade-point average (GPA) of 3.71 during the fall semester – the 13th-best among NCAA Division I women’s swimming and diving programs – while 17 student-athletes recorded perfect 4.0 GPAs.

“A commitment to academic success is something this team takes pride in and continues to make a priority,” head coach Caitlin Hamilton shared. “They’ve each handled the adversity of the last two semesters exceptionally well. The entire staff is proud of their hard work and excited about the big academic goals they continue to make.”

More than 450 institutions across all NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA Divisions were named to the CSCAA’s Scholar All-America Team. The CSCAA honors teams with the Scholar All-America Award for achieving a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. Every team in the Missouri Valley Conference was represented on the list, as Illinois State posted the third-best GPA in the league.
