Jaydah Godbolt, 11, Star Aquatics (STAR-CA): 50 breast, 35.06 – A then-10-year-old Jaydah Godbolt broke 40 seconds for the first time in the 50 breast in February of 2018. Since then, she’s dropped time nearly every time she’s raced. Godbolt was 38.37 by the end of 2018, then 37.40 almost exactly a year after she first broke :40. Six months later, at the 2019 TMEC End of Summer Meet, she dropped to 35.06, a double-A cut.
Cheyanne Summers, 15, Pass Swim Team (PASS-CA): 200 free, 2:01.83 – As a 13-year-old in September 2017, Cheyanne Summers had a best time of 2:12.38 in the 200 free. In her first swim of 2018, she dropped that to 2:09.20, and then later the same day, 2:06.02. By the end of the year, she was 2:03.59. Summers has only raced a short course 200 free twice in 2019: the first time she was 2:10.74, then last weekend, she went 2:01.83 at the 2019 TMEC End of Summer Meet.
Tanker Speck, 17, Greater Pensacola Aquatic Club (GPAC-SE): 100 fly, 53.20 – Seventeen-year-old Tanner Speck has only swum seven 100 flys in his life, and only three since the start of 2018. Speck’s best time going into 2018 was 57.48, and in his sole swim that year, he went 59.60. Almost exactly a year after that swim, in January 2019, he went 56.72. That was his only 100 fly of this year until two weekends ago, when he dropped 3.5 seconds to go 53.20 at his team’s time trial meet.
Charlie Clark, 15, Boulder City Henderson Swim Team (BCH-CA): 500 free, 4:53.31 – Fifteen-year-old Charlie Clark raced the fifth 500 free of his life last week, continuing his streak of dropping time in each attempt. In his first 500 ever, just over two years ago, he went 5:52.42, then two months later, 5:34.05. Fifteen months after that, he blew that time away, going 5:05.99, then was 5:03.67 in February of this year. In his fifth swim, Clark left the 5:00 barrier in the dust, going 4:53.31 at the 2019 BCH Desert Invite.
Cole Faut, 11, YMCA Westside Silver Fins (TWSF-AZ): 50 back, 33.07 – Then nine years old, Cole Faut broke :40 for the first time in the 50 back in September 2017, going 39.77. He stayed in the 39s in early 2018, then in September of that year, went 36.34. In February 2019, Faut brought that time down to 35.76, then six months later, hit 33.07 at the 2019 YWSF Intrasquad Meet last weekend.
