Frannie Malone comes to ACC with a diverse coaching background. Her past 14 years have been spent at The University of Iowa, serving as Assistant Coach from 2004-2010 and Associate Head Coach from 2010-2018. At Iowa, Frannie led recruiting efforts for both the men’s and women’s teams through 2011, before focusing primarily on women’s recruiting from 2011-2018. Currently she is also the girl’s high school diving coach for Iowa City High School and West High School in Iowa City.
Prior to returning to Iowa, Frannie served as an assistant women’s swimming & diving coach at Tulane University (2002-2003). At Tulane, she helped field the first Green Wave swimming team since 1989-90, recruiting a class of 15 student-athletes who in their first season won three Conference USA individual titles and recorded 20 top eight finishes at the conference meet. Linda McEachrane won two conference titles to earn Conference USA Freshman of the Year accolades and posted NCAA performances in the 50 and 100 free.
Malone served as a graduate assistant coach at Ohio University (2001) and student assistant coach at Iowa (1998-2000) after her swimming career was cut short by a shoulder injury. Her club coaching experience includes leading the Willow Knolls Country Club and Ohio Master’s Swimming Program and serving as an age-group assistant with the Central Illinois Aquatics Program.
A native of Peoria, Ill., Malone earned her bachelor’s degree from Iowa in 2000 and her master’s degree in Coaching Education from Ohio University in 2008. She and her husband, Sean, have two children, Nathan and Betty, a dog, Mabel, and cat, Thurman.
