Kromowidjojo, Top Ranked Freestyler, Released from Hospital, Out for Euro's

According to SwimNews.com, Ranomi Kromowidjojo, who is the world’s top ranked 100m freestyler and second ranked 50m freestyler, has been released from a hospital in the Canary Islands and has rejoined her teammates.

The Dutch freestyler was hospitalized with a case of viral meningitis last week while her team was making final preparations for the 2010 European Championships.

While she is on her way to a full recovery, the doctors’ recommendations to take things easy did not line up with racing at one of the world’s elite swim meets. Her coach, Jacco Verhaeren, believes that she will be ready in plenty of time to begin the short course season in September.
