The University of Florida has picked up another commitment for their incoming class, this time from Ireland. Gerry Quinn has given a verbal to UF, bringing in some sprint speed in freestyle.

Quinn’s best events are the 100 and 200 free, where he is the Irish junior record holder in both of those events. He swam his best times, shown above, this past summer. His 50.00 came from the 2016 European Junior Championships, where he touched 7th in the final, six tenths from the gold medal time of 49.40.
His times, converted to short course yards from long course, come in at 43.60 for the 100y free and 1:36.98 for the 200y free. Florida, known for its prowess developing mid-distance talents, should be a solid fit for his skill set.
Quinn would’ve finished in the B-final at last year’s SEC’s in the 100 free, and would’ve been just outside of scoring in the C final in the 200 free, with his converted times. He’s joining an incoming Gator freshman class that has a lot of mid-distance freestyle talent (see the class, in full, below).
