SMU men’s swimmer Nick Hook was honored with the Outstanding Senior Man Award by SMU’s Lyle School of Engineering, which made him a finalist for the 2017 SMU Outstanding Senior Man Award. The selection criteria for the award is based on outstanding accomplishments in academic achievement, leadership, character, community service and campus involvement.

A mechanical engineering and mathematics major from Frisco, Texas, Hook has been named to the Honor Roll with High Distinction each semester at SMU, posting a grade point average in the top 5 percent of his school of record, and has a 3.975 cumulative GPA. He has also been awarded All-American Athletic Conference Academic Honors each season on the Hilltop. In 2015, he was named to the Tau Beta Pi Honors Society.

All nominees for the SMU Outstanding Senior Woman and Man Award were honored at the Hilltop Excellence Awards, a University-wide ceremony, as well as recognized at a reception held by President and Mrs. R. Gerald Turner.

Hook is a four-year participant for the Mustangs, specializing in freestyle events, and was a member of SMU’s scoring team at the 2015 and 2016 conference championships.
