Utah Diving Travels To Air Force Invitational

The Utah diving team will travel to Colorado Springs to compete in the Air Force Invitational. The meet will take place Friday and Saturday, Jan. 27-28, beginning each day at 9 a.m.
“This has always been a successful meet for us in terms of great results and great preparation for Pac-12’s and beyond,” said Utah head diving coach Richard Marschner. “It gives us one last chance to see some of the best out of conference competition within our zone before we head off to Pac-12’s.”
 
COMPETING SCHOOLS
There will be 14 other teams competing this weekend. The Utes will be competing against North Texas, BYU, Nevada, Wyoming, Boise State, New Mexico State, San Diego State, New Mexico, host Air Force, California, Northern Arizona and Colorado State.
 
PREVIOUS MEETING
The Utes have competed in this Invitational over the last few seasons. Last season, Daniel Theriault took third on the platform event tallying a total score of 303.00. He also took 12th on the three-meter (286.35).
Amanda Casillas took second on the both the three-meter (312.00) and the platform event (262.20). Nicole Ford took tenth (201.80) and Lauren Hall finished 12th (197.70) on the platform.
In 2015, Casillas just missed second place on the three-meter tallying a score of 311.55. She also took sixth on the one-meter (250.45).
LAST TIME OUT
The team took on BYU last weekend. Competing in their last meet at the Ute Natatorium, seniors Josiah Purss and Casillas took first in their respective events.
Purss took first on the one-meter and three-meter. In the one-meter, he tallied a total score of 344.78 while accumulating a score of 409.80 in the three meter.
Casillas was first on the one-mer tallying a total score of 280.73. Hall took second in the event (245.48). Casillas also took first on the the three-meter event (290.70).
