Michigan Sprinter Lexus VanHoven Commits to Army West Point

East Grand Rapids High School senior Lexus VanHoven has verbally committed to swim for the United States Military Academy beginning in the 2017-18 season. “I committed to West Point, because it is the perfect fit for me. As soon as I went to visit, I fell in love. I love the campus, coaches, and cadets. I have always wanted to serve and attending West Point will allow me to do that. I am excited for the years to come. GO ARMY!”

VanHoven is a six-time finalist at the Michigan Girls High School Championships. As a freshman she finished 5th in the 50 free and 8th in the 100 free in Division 3. The next year, also in Division 3, she was runner-up in both the 50 and 100 free. Last year East Grand Rapids competed in Division 2, and VanHoven placed 5th in the 100 free and 7th in the 50.

VanHoven swims year-round with East Grand Rapids Aquatics. She competed at 2016 NCSA Spring Championship in the 50/100 free, 50 back, and 50 fly, and at 2015 Speedo Winter Juniors East in the 100 free. Her best SCY times are:
