Rio Torch Relay Day 64: Encantado, Lajeado, Santa Cruz and Santa Maria

On each day of the official Olympic torch relay, carrying the Olympic flame to the Olympic cauldron in Rio de Janeiro, the Rio2016 Facbeook page is posting brilliant and spectacular images from one of the world’s unique and most beautiful landscapes. Each day until August 5th, we will bring you these stunning images.

On the 64th day the torch travelled through four more cities in Rio Grande do Sul: Encantado, Lajeado, Santa Cruz do Sul and Santa Maria. All four are located in the mid region of the state.

First it went to Encantado, a municipality with a population of about 19,000. It then travelled south to Lajeado, a much bigger municipality with around 79,000 inhabitants. It then went to Santa Cruz do Sul and Santa Maria, each with about 130,000 and 264,000 inhabitants, respectively.
