37 U.S. National Teamers, 22 National Jr Teamers, to Race in Atlanta

37 USA Swimming National Team members and 22 USA Swimming National Junior Team members will participate in this week’s Atlanta Swim Classic at Georgia Tech’s McAuley Aquatic Center.

Included among the names are Olympic champion Nathan Adrian and Natalie Coughlin, along with the Americans’ two youngest hopes to return to global sprint supremacy Caeleb Dressel and Simone Manuel. The 37 accounts for more than 1/3 of the 107 swimmers on the National Team.

Included among the list below are swimmers who will contend for spots on the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team in every offered event across all four strokes and all distances.

National Age Group Record holders Ella EastinAlex WalshMegan Byrnes, Isabella Rongione, Sean GrieshopWalker HigginsMatthew HirschenbergerJames Jones, and Reece Whitley  are among the National Junior Team members in attendance who are also current National Age Group Record holders.

The meet will run from Friday May 13th through Sunday May 16th, which overlaps it with the Arena Pro Swim Series meet in Charlotte. That meet too has a lineup of stars including Olympic champions Ryan Lochte, Tyler Clary, Dana Vollmer, and Anthony Ervin. While the Atlanta Classic isn’t technically a Pro Swim Series event, this will give us a taste of the June Pro Swim weekend where Indianapolis and Santa Clara will host concurrent meets.

Try this? http://atlantaswimming.com/webcast

Love to see a SWIMSWAM article(s) with event by event comparison between the Charlotte and Atlanta meets: Winning times or top three times. This seldom happens: Two top (International) level meets with countless Olympians and Olympic hopefuls competing on the same weekend just a few hours away. Comparisons will be very, very FUN to observe for fans!! …. One event will be faster in Charlotte and the next will be faster in Atlanta. Good for the sport. Good for the athletes. Wish I could be at either or both meets!!

We can watch baseball, softball, Lacrosse and a few other boring sports on American TV….
Don’t tell me that such a meet with many of the best swimmers of the world can’t be streamed! It’s not expensive to put one or two cameras in the pool. It would be inexcusable!

Meet management did not contract with AtlantaSwimming.com to webcast the meet. We will not be offering a live stream of this event unfortunately. We would have loved to!
