Women’s 50 Freestyle
Pernille Blume is a person resurrected. After overcoming the near miss in the 100 by posting an Olympic qualifying in the 50 prelims, she swam to a lifetime best and a win in finals.
The women’s sprint had the most star power we will see this entire meet. Blume was up against Danish record holder Jeanette Ottesen and Mie Nielsen, but still won easily after trailing at the start.
Blume’s time of 24.47 is currently ranked sixth in the world, and is a personal best by .12.

Men’s 50 Butterfly
Soeren Dahl dipped under 24 seconds for the first time to take a victory. The NC State based sprinter dominated on top of the water, swimming flat and straight to a 23.93.

Women’s 200 Medley
Although she was denied her third victory, Katrine Villesen continues to be having a breakout competition. She led early, and finished well but ultimately Maja Nielsen got the better of her with a stronger breaststroke leg.
Villesen nearly broke the Danish Junior record in the race, missing out by just 4 tenths of a second.

Men’s 50 Backstroke
Magnus Jakupsson came into the meet tied for the Danish record in 25.44. With his victory tonight, he is the sole record holder by the slimmest of margins.
Jakupsson bested Andreas Schiellerup underwater, then pulled away the rest of the length to score an easy victory.

Women’s 100 Backstroke
Mie Nielsen swam a very evenly split 100, and won easily. The backstroke star, who came into the meet qualified, went out in 29.4, returning in 30.4 to win in 59.95.
Sarah Bro was much better than the rest of the field for second in 1:02.61. The best results from the rest of the field came in Juniors, where both Victoria Bierre and Emilie Falbe-Hansen scored qualifying times for European Juniors.
