Kromowidjojo Puts Up Top Five Time in the 50 Butterfly in Hague

Ranomi Kromowidjojo had a strong showing in both the 50 butterfly and 50 freestyle on the first day of the Hague Grand Prix.

Kromowidjojo posted a 26.00 in the prelims of the 50 butterfly, which places her fourth in the world rankings behind Sarah Sjostrom, Jeanette Ottesen and Ying Lu.

She also recorded a top ten ranked time in the 50 freestyle, winning the event in a time of 24.73, which puts her ninth in the world.

Kromowidjojo did not compete in the final of the 50 butterfly, which was won by Kim Busch who recorded a 27.41.

European Games star and age group stand standout Marrit Steenbergen took the women’s 50 backstroke in a time of 29.44.

In other women’s events Tes Schouten won the 50 breaststroke in a time of 32.61 while Esmee Vermeulen took the 800 freestyle in a time of 8:58.31.

World Championship team member Maarten Brzoskowski won the men’s 800 freestyle in a time of 8:12.96.

Winner’s in the men’s events included:

  • 50 backstroke – Ruben van Leeuwen – 27.54
  • 50 freestyle – Jeron Baars – 23.42
  • 50 butterfly – Joeri Verlinden – 24.37
  • 50 breaststroke – Timon Evenhuis – 28.26
