After a successful first day of swimming and diving at the Hamilton College Invitational, the host team continued to perform well over the two sessions of Day Two at Bristol Pool in Clinton, New York. The Continental women finished the meet with a nearly 450-point lead over the competition, while the men closed the meet ahead by a nearly 340-point margin. Hamilton head coach T.J. Davis said, “I was happy with how we performed as a whole. I felt like the team had a tenacious approach to their events and it served us well throughout the bevy of events. We have more work to do, but this is a great way to close out our semester and roll into final exams feeling good about our effort!”

Lauren Klei (26.33) Hannah Mooney (25.77) Jessica Halladay (26.13), and Sarah Hooper (24.62) of Hamilton tied the meet record in the 200 free relay with 1:42.85. Klei (2:00.27) broke the meet record in the 200 free, edging teammate Halladay for the victory. Hooper (55.00), Klei (55.93) and Mooney (56.29) swept the podium in the 100 free.

Mount Holyoke’s Cathleen Pruden crushed the meet and pool records in the 400 IM with 4:26.88. Hannah Dari of SUNY Oneonta and Hamilton’s Lauren King went season-best times for second and third. Pruden repeated with another set of meet and pool records, winning the 1650 free in 17:30.46. Dari placed second again, just ahead of Smith’s Desi Stoyanova.

SUNY Oneonta’s Nicole DiFilippo lowered her own meet record in the 100 breast, winning in 1:10.14, while Bri Groves of Mount Holyoke broke the meet record in the 200 breast with 2:34.04. Taylor Waldrop (2:14.41) of SUNY Oneonta edged Hamilton’s Anya Nugent (2:15.10) and Emma Raynor (2:15.66) for the 200 back title.

The results of 3-meter diving mirrored those of the 1-meter event; SUNY Cortland’s Miranda Fergus led the field with 299.45 points. She was followed by Smith’s Elly Stone, Cecelia Arrison, and Anna Partridge and Hamilton’s Sarah Pickup.

Hamilton closed out the competition with a meet record in the 400 free relay when Hooper (56.07), Mooney (55.37), Olivia Shehan (56.25), and Klei (55.03) combined for 3:42.72, more than 2 seconds under the old mark.
