Tennessee Sprinter Adam Thomas Opts to Swim at Virginia Tech

Adam Thomas, who swims for Tennessee Aquatics and Webb School of Knoxville, has committed to Virginia Tech’s class of 2019.

Thomas placed third in the 50 free and second in the 100 free at the Tennessee High School Swimming and Diving Championships in February. He also anchored both the 200 medley and 200 free relays for Webb School, contributing greatly to the boys’ team’s tenth place state finish. In the 50, Thomas broke 21 seconds for the first time in prelims, going 20.94; he then dropped another 2/10 in finals to finish one of only four sub-21s in the meet. Thomas’ 100 final was even more impressive; he went a best time in prelims with 46.37, then took another 8/10 off in finals. His top times over the last year have been:

Event SCY LCM
50 free 20.77 24.29
100 free 45.51 52.83
200 free 1:41.28 1:54.82

The H2Okies are coming off a strong year that saw them finish third at ACC Championships and send thirteen swimmers and divers to NCAAs. Thomas joins the following recruits in the class of 2019:
