MEET NOTES: NC State Diving to compete at Tennessee Diving Invitational on Jan. 3

The NC State swimming and diving team will kick off the 2015 portion of its season as it heads to Knoxville, Tenn. for the Tennessee Diving Invitational on Jan. 3-5.

Divers Gabi McDermott, Harrison Mitchell and Rachel Mumma will represent the Wolfpack at the three-day competition. All three athletes will compete in the one-meter, three-meter and platform events.

For Mitchell, this will be his first meet back in the water for the Wolfpack since his injury in October.

Radman’s Recap

“We’re very excited for this meet- it’s the first test of the semester. We came off a great first half of the season and will enter this meet with Harrison Mitchell at full health. With him we’re slowly working our way back into some basics and mechanics.

“The competition we will face will be pretty stiff- there will be several SEC schools, a few mid-major schools and a couple of ACC schools, but we will see some pretty big programs so we’re very excited about the potential of competition.”- Yahya Radman, head diving coach

Last Time Out

Rachel Mumma recorded a 10-dive total of 529.55 to finish fourth in the one-meter competition at the USA Diving Winter National Championships Dec. 16 in Columbus, Ohio.

Her performance earned Mumma a selection spot on the USA Diving national team for the 2015 University World Games.
