Ottesen Ends Danish Champs with Season’s Best 100 Butterfly

Jeanette Ottesen has had a strong Danish Short Course Championships recording season’s bests in both the 50 freestyle (23.89) and 50 butterfly (24.88). She added to that total tonight by posting a 56.34 in the 100 butterfly.

Although the time is well off Ottesen’s lifetime best of 55.86 and textile best of 55.94 it currently ranks fifth in the world.

Her best swim of the competition by far was the 50 butterfly where she was only one one-hundredth of a second off her Danish record and put her second in the world rankings.

Femke Heemskerk ended an impressive campaign by recording the fastest time in the women’s 200 freestyle touching in a 1:51.96. It is just off her season’s best of 1:51.72 which ranks third in the world.

During the competition in Copenhagen Heemskerk posted the world’s second fastest 50 freestyle and third fastest 100 freestyle and 200 IM.

• Men’s 100 butterfly – Magnus Jakkupsson – 53.34
• Women’s 400 IM – Julie Lauridsen – 4:38.35
