Argentina Sending 8 Swimmers to World Short Course Championships

The Argentinian Swimming Federation has announced  a roster of 8 swimmers for the 2014 World Short Course Swimming Championships that will be held from December 3rd-7th in Doha, Qatar.

The South American country hasn’t won a medal at the biannual short course championships since 2006, when Jose Meolans won the last of his four career World Short Course medals – four out of the five in the country’s history.

Perhaps the country’s best chance at pulling of a medal comes in the form of the 24-year old Federico Grabich. The versatile swimmer ranges from 50’s to 200’s and is the 2010 and 2014 South American Champion in the 200 free.

Maybe his best chance at a final, though, comes in the 50 back. He swam a National Record of 25.16 en route to a 10th-place finish at the long course World Championships, and he’s very good in short course as well.

The full roster is below:

  • Grabich Federico
  • Aguilera Matias
  • Belza Joaquin
  • Buscaglia Guido
  • Naidich Martin
  • Sebastian Julia
  • Perotti Florencia
  • Berrino Andrea

Coaches:

  • Federico Rossi
  • Ortiz Roberto
  • Gherardi Monica
