Sophie Scadron has announced she will transfer to George Mason after spending two seasons at NC State. Scadron has battled a shoulder injury in the past and said on Instagram:
“Surprise! After almost having to retire from swim because of a shoulder injury, I was given the opportunity to heal and swim with George Mason. I will be continuing my swimming and academic career there for the next 2 years. I want to thank NC State for making me who I am today, my coaches for supporting me, and the Wolfpack women for being there for me and making my time there so special.
I’m so excited for this next chapter! GO PATRIOTS!”
Scadron just finished her sophomore season and competed in five meets this past season for the Wolfpack. She notably swam a lifetime best 53.61 in the team’s dual meet against Virginia back in January. She did not swim at ACCs and instead finished her season during the team’s dual meet against UNCW where she swam a 53.67 100 fly and a 23.08 50 free split on the team’s 200 free relay.
She concluded her freshman season at the UNC Invite, swimming to a lifetime best 1:50.12 in the 200 free. She also swam a 54.20 100 fly and a 2:04.11 200 fly then.
Scadron’s Best SCY Times Are:
- 50 free: 23.58
- 100 free: 51.90 (high school)
- 200 free: 1:50.12
- 100 fly: 53.61
- 200 fly: 2:01.16
The rising junior will return closer to home as she is originally from Fairfax, VA. The George Mason women finished 8th out of 10 teams at the 2026 A-10 Championships with 211 points, finishing just behind 7th place Rhode Island (234 points). Kristen Ivey led the team with 19 individual points.
Scadron is a big addition to George Mason’s roster. Her best time in the 100 fly would have been 3rd while her 200 fly would have been 5th at the 2026 A-10 Championships. The team did not have any ‘A’ finalists in either butterfly events. She also would have been 7th in the 200 free.
Scadron is also a strong addition to the team’s relays and has the potential to be on all five relays if they choose as her 50 free would have been 3rd, her 100 free 4th, and her 200 free would have led the team. Her 100 fly would have been the fastest this past season by almost two seconds as Peyton Brehmer led the team with a 55.36.
