Josh Liendo, Liberty Clark, Baylor Stanton Headline Mel Zajac Jr. International Swim Meet Entries

2026 Mel Zajac Jr. International Swim Meet

The 2026 Mel Zajac Jr. International Swim Meet is just around the corner, and with it are several big-time senior and junior swimmers looking to make a splash in Vancouver.

Among the notable entries at this meet is Canadian Olympian and NCAA Champion and record holder Josh Liendo, who is set to race the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free, and 50 fly, all as the top seed. Additionally, he is entered in the 50 back and 100 back. We have only seen Liendo race in two long-course meets so far this season, including the Ft Lauderdale Open, where he finished 5th in the 50 free (22.39), 7th in the 100 free (49.36), 6th in the 50 fly (23.73), and 2nd in the 100 fly (51.17). He also raced at the FAST May Invite last month, where he clocked 50.38 in the 100 free.

Another NCAA standout at this meet is Liberty Clark, who saw a slew of success after her freshman season with the Hoosiers at Indiana. Clark enters this meet as the top in the 50 free (24.67), and the 2nd seed in both the 100 free and the 200 free. Clark is coming off the Indy Spring Cup, where she clocked a lifetime best in the 100 free (53.72), which puts her within punching distance of top seed Kayla Noelle Sanchez at 53.12 at this meet.

Several major junior swimmers will also be in attendance, including Baylor Stanton, the top recruit in the boys 2026 recruiting class, rising breaststroke star Grace Koenig-Song, Texas commit Sydney Schoeck, her future Longhorn teammate Sadie Buckley (high school class of 2027), and butterfly specialist Charlie Cancelmo.

Stanton is set to compete in the 200 IM, 400 IM (top seed in both), 100 back, 200 back (#6 seed in both), 200 breast (#13 seed), and 100 free (#16 seed). Koenig-Song will be especially competitive in the breaststroke races, as she is set to compete in the 50 breast as the top entered time, and the 100 breast and 200 breast well inside the top eight (2nd and 6th, respectively). Schoeck comes into this meet as the top seed in the 400 IM, and #2 seed in the 800 free and 1500 free, while Buckley is the top seed in the 200 back, well over a full second ahead of Alyssa Sagle and Schoeck in 2nd and 3rd. Cancelmo, one of the big stories of the Sacramento Pro Series, notched a win in the 200 fly in 1:59.53, which was still well off his best of 1:58.27 from last june at the Speedo Junior National Championships.

A swarm of Canadian talent will take center stage in Vancouver, including backstroke stars Kylie Masse and Blake Tierney, Finlay Knox, Justice Migneault, Kayla Noelle Sanchez, and Kamryn Cannings, all looking to make their marks at this meet.
