On the second night of the 2026 AP Race London International, Estonia’s Ralf Tribuntsov broke his own national record en route to victory in the men’s 50m backstroke.
The 31-year-old clocked a time of 24.81 to get to the wall ahead of Czechia’s Jakub Krischke (24.96) and Lithuania’s Mantas Kauspedas (25.17) to lower his own newly minted national record of 24.86 notched in prelims earlier today.
Entering the competition, Tribuntsov’s lifetime best (and national record) stood at the 24.87 he recorded at last June’s Estonian Championships.
Tribuntsov holds 13 national records across both long course and short course, eight individual and five relay.

Tribuntsov, a USC graduate, recently picked up his first international medal at the 2025 European Short Course Championships. There, he walked away with gold in the 50m back.
