2026 NCAA qualifier Alexey Glivinsky has entered the transfer portal. Glivinsky arrived at Texas this spring after flipping his commitment from Michigan to Texas and has three years of eligibility remaining.
Glivinsky originally committed to Michigan but delayed his arrival to the spring semester due to military commitments. In the fall, he then switched his commitment to Texas. Earlier this week, Michigan freshman Luka Mladenovic announced he would transfer to Texas.
He competing in six meets for the Longhorns and had a huge 1:32.23 at the Ohio State Invite which punched his ticket to the 2026 NCAA Championships. He swam a 1:33.66 in the event at the 2026 SEC Championships for 17th and also was 15th in the 100 free (42.56) and 29th in the 200 fly (1:45.74).
He went on to swim the 100 free and 200 free at NCAAs, swimming a 42.18 for 32nd in the 100 and a 1:32.49 in the 200 free for 26th. It took a 1:31.62 to score in the 200 free and a 41.56 to score in the 100 free. He was not a member of the Longhorn relays.
Glivinsky’s Best SCY Times Are:
- 100 free: 41.86
- 200 free: 1:32.23
- 200 IM: 1:43.29
- 200 fly: 1:45.23
Glivinsky represented Israel at the 2024 Olympics, swimming on the men’s 4×200 free relay. He also swam at the 2025 World Championships, finishing 14th in the 200 IM (1:59.41), 23rd in the 200 free, and swimming on Israel’s 4×200 free relay that was 8th as well as their 4×100 free relay that was 12th.
The NCAA transfer portal closes today for women and next Friday, May 1st for men. Some exceptions to this window include a change in head coach, if a program is cut, and graduate transfers.

He’ll get plenty of fine offers
KARMAS A B****, YOU SHOULDA KNOWN BETTER. GO BLUE!
Everybody makes decisions in life… some decisions are better than others. Personally, if bridges weren’t burned with Michigan, it would be great if he came back to Michigan and has great success with Sauve, Eidam and others.
Now the REAL whammy? Glivinskiy’s entered in the 11&U meet Texas has going on. He’s supposed to swim tomorrow
2021: a Texas guy is 4th at NCAAs in 1:32.5, both prelims and finals (Larson and Sannem)
2026: 1:32.2 gets cut from the team.
Life moves pretty fast sometimes 😳
honestly surprised 132.5 finals back then
Pandemic year so there was definitely some interruption to the plunging 200 times. But 1:32.2 still makes the A final in 2023.
Is it my imagination or do foreign swimmers transfer more than domestic? I get that it is harder for them to evaluate multiple programs as most American swimmers would, but it does seem to be a bit of a red flag for coaches.
I think you’re right as to one factor. They’re operating more on faith and reputation than a personal connection.
But they also don’t have the same sort of blind collegiate loyalty that Americans do. At home, it’s less likely to be seen as a ‘red flag,’ and their parents’ friends and neighbors are less sold-out on “my kid committed to school XYZ so I did a good job raising them.”
In this case, as I understand, it was a cut, though. So not his choice, per se.
Won’t be a good look for Bowman if he transfers & develops into an A finalist away.
Not that it’s a good look in any respect.
Sends a sour message out that a program is this mercenary after recruiting a guy to come, especially an international.
Feel like if they were a mercenary program, they’d have cut the slower/equal americans with less eligibility than Glivinskiy and Bailey
Not sure what we’re downvoting. People have been saying he’ll cut a slower American to bring a fast foreigner on since he got hired at Texas, we’re seeing those fast foreigners being cut now.
how really care about if he develops or not, Bobby can always point to some Olympic medalist in his crew and give slow jerk off motion with his other hand….
One of the reasons why foreigners are in the portal is because some of the higher ranking programs give them full scholarships with the expectation that they score at conference and nationals. If that doesn’t happen, they take away their scholarship money and find someone else. It’s not really fair in my opinion, especially if it’s partly the fault of the coaching staff, but it happens. I do wonder if they’re being told up front what the expectation and repercussions are, or do they just get a sales pitch about the program.
Well, aquajosh, merry christmas. Abdallah Nassr to UF
I know you were wanting Logan Robinson, but this isn’t a bad pickup. 200 fly like you were talking about and 200 free for the rebuild of UF’s 800 free relay
UF just say eff it to picking up domestic recruits now?
When you only have 22 roster spots and the expectation is to win at the highest levels, do you go for someone who has already scored points at NCs, or a 3-4 star domestic recruit?
Yeah I think this is the new reality of the 22 swimmer roster limit. For SEC programs that are really the top of the top (Florida, Texas), there’s going to be some cuts that are going to be hard to fathom but…Texas right now has its pick of the litter.
Longhorns with another in the portal today.
Evan Bailey?
I’ve heard that he was cut, but that he wasn’t going in the portal because his plan was to just go back to Ireland.
Not 100% that the latter part is true, though.
I’m just going off someone saying it was two freshmen who showed up in January. Kinda weird Bob getting on the various podcasts and saying he can carry more than 22 if it’s not the case. Also, for as much crap as he takes for cutting the slower kids to bring in faster kids, let me say I wouldn’t have figured Alexey or Bailey to be first on the chopping block
Yeah, sounds like Bailey just went in, so the last bit from my earlier post at least isn’t necessarily true.
Clearly this is all recent, he was just at Irish Nationals with a Texas cap on during all his swims
On Mladenovic’s signing post, someone commented “someone do something ref” and Glivinskiy was one of the ones to like it. This definitely was recent and likely unexpected
Bro how deep into this are you 😭
More than anyone realizes
legend
Oh I know you’re deep in this because you have either direct or arm’s length access to the transfer portal.
Do you really think so? Feel like that shows how good I am at this
Since they arrived in January they might not fall under DSA protection.
Seems really dumb to just bring these guys in at semester if the expectation is that they need to crush it right away to even stay on the roster. Bailey is a monster in SCM, but adjusting to a new country, training environment, and racing format, and some monsters are not going to be scary at first.
I’d argue that Glivinskiy swam well. 41.8/1:32.2 free and I guess no real third event but dang 41.8 100 free with 3 more years of eligibility getting cut? Times are tough.
Could it be that places with tons of NIL save those funds for domestic athletes and use the institutional pot (which is likely small for swimming) for international athletes? Makes me wonder if he’s cutting two international swimmers to replace with two other. One already being announced.
And you’re thinking Koch is the 2nd one?
Yeah, I have no Intel though. If UF was his top choice and they just signed someone else… He’ll go where the most money is available.
I thought IU would be more in the competition for these elite transfers. They must have a lot of their funds committed to their current roster.
People have been saying he’s after the NIL money but then Braden commented that ASU was one of his top 3 choices. That threw me for a loop.
I thought IU would be one of Koch’s considerations to be honest. Kinda feels like most of these guys had specific schools in mind though. At least, I”m lookign at Arkhangelskiy (who I’m sure is headed to Cal), Mladenovic I think has been wanting to swim for Bob’s program since he was at ASU, and Johnson seemed to follow his coach that went to Georgia.
I think what we are seeing from IU is some crazy incoming classes. 2026 and 2027 are stacked from what I’ve seen.
UF signing Abdallah doesn’t mean they don’t have money for Koch. It’s entirely possible that he (Abdallah) wanted to swim somewhere he would feel more comfortable and confident in his training environment. Aside from Jaouadi and Hafnaoui currently on the roster, UF has had tremendous success developing swimmers and divers from the Arab diaspora (See: Amro Al-Wir, Sarra Lajnef, Khader Baqlah, Maha Amer).
As for Koch, UF would be a no-brainer. His best events happen to be events where Florida produced two of the top 3 in history in both, and they’ve had success with German swimmers in the past.
Well, hopefully Koch has a brain and picks Texas. 100 Free LCM Texas has a guy with a faster PB and Bob’s coached more olympic champs in the 100 fly then Florida has.
Normally I would say that’s a reputation killer but with Bob’s history it probably won’t matter to nearly all swimmers of high caliber
It may not be the smartest thing, but these guys were hired to bring championships to the program. Scholarships + NIL is a lot of money to shell out for a guy who essentially didn’t do his job. Fair? No, but nothing about NCAA swimming is fair anymore
masiuk?
Go to Wisconsin, train with Yoav!
