Josh Liendo on Defending 100 Free Title: “More nerves than those other events”

2026 NCAA Division I Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships

Josh Liendo pulled off a historic feat last night in Atlanta, winning the NCAA title in the 100 free for the 4th consecutive year. After the race, Liendo reflected on the nerves that come with swimming in that specific A-Final and how he’s been able to manage them over his career. He also admitted that now that his college career is over, there will be some moving parts, and he’s not exactly sure if he will be training in Florida permanently.

Great swimmer. Let’s not forget he was a two times bronze medalist at world championships before he ever stepped foot on campus. Which doesn’t take anything away from his accomplishments. I just find it funny that swim fans want to portray Florida as the underdogs and that Bob has all the mercenaries.
