The Longhorn Aquatics swimmers continued to dominate the competition on day 2 of the 2025 Austin Sectionals.
Racking up points on the girls’ side were Campbell Chase and Siener Bruner, who went 1-2 in the 200 free. Chase blasted into the wall in 2:01.70, just .19 off of her lifetime best from NCSAs in 2022, while Bruner snagged the runner-up spot behind her in 2:04.53. Bruner’s performance shaved .25 off of her previous best time (2:04.78) that she set just a few weeks ago.
After winning the 100 free on night 1, Longhorn Aquatics teammate Lillie Nesty turned in another strong performance tonight in the 100 back. Nesty threw down a personal best time of 1:01.49 to mark her first time under 1:02 and claim the runner-up spot behind Texas A&M’s Kaitlyn Owens (1:01.04).
Only two swimmers were under 5:00 in the girls’ 400 IM: 17-year-old Averie Hager of Streamline Aquatics and 16-year-old Kate Canales of Alamo Area Aquatic Association. Hager clinched the championship title in 4:57.69 and dropped 2.55 from her previous lifetime best (5:00.24) to log the #32 time this season in the girls’ 17-18 400 IM.
Meanwhile Canales posted a tremendous lifetime best time of 4:58.85, knocking nearly 7.5 seconds off of her time to land herself at #34 on the ranking of top times this season in the 15-16 age group.
On the boys’ side, Dads Club Swim Team’s Alexander Thomas turned in an impressive performance in the 400 IM. The 14-year-old posted the 5th-fastest time this season in the boys’ 13-14 age group, placing 6th overall in 4:37.02. While Thomas has already been 5th on this season’s rankings with his previous best time of 4:37.36, his performance tonight bumped him up a few spots on the all-time top 100 age group rankings, landing him at #84.
Waterloo Swimming’s Harrison Tater logged a lifetime best time of 1:53.09 in the 200 free to place 4th overall and mark the 16th-fastest time in the boys’ 15-16 age group this season. Tater’s performance took over 2.5 seconds off of his previous time (1:55.73), which he set just one month ago.
Securing the championship title in the 200 free was Longhorn Aquatics’ Cooper Lucas, who won the event by almost three seconds. Lucas prevailed in 1:48.58, only .05 off of his lifetime best, and was the only competitor in the field to go sub-1:50.

Way to go, Siener Bruner!!!
These times are either good or weak. The article header states this is set up as 25 yard pool. But the meet seems to be called the LC Sectionals. I could probably read closely and find other clues, or drill around. I’m off to other articles.
Gotta be LC right?
It’s long course. Apologies for the error.
you couldn’t scroll to like the second sentence and see “won in 2:01?” Like in what world does a 2:01 SCY 200 FR win sectionals
May I recommend a touch of critical thinking? “I could probably read closely but instead I’m typing out this comment”
Don’t you have to scroll down past the second sentence to type the comment?
