Day 4 of the 2019 U.S. Open Swimming Championships will feature heats of the women’s and men’s 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, and 200 fly. The A flight (fastest heats) will run from 8:00 AM to 10:34 AM. The B flight will be held from 10:38 AM to 12:00 noon. Afterwards, the slower heats of the women’s and men’s 1500 free will take place starting at 1:44 PM.
There are quite a few scratches out of the circle-seeded heats on the final day of competition in Atlanta. Some have been missing all weekend (Claire Curzan, Katie McLaughlin, Hali Flickinger, Gunnar Bentz), others are focusing on other events, still others have cut the meet short by a day. We knew Curzan was out for medical purposes but we just learned that Ryan Held has been sick with sinusitis since just before the Baltimore ISL. He started another round of antibiotics on Wednesday and tried to power through but eventually he had to pull out of U.S. Open.
