#16 in Class of 2025 Ethan Ekk Announces Verbal Commitment to Stanford

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Ethan Ekk, who lives in Tallahassee, Florida, and represents Canada internationally, has announced his verbal commitment to the Stanford University class of 2029. He wrote on social media:

“I’m happy to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career @stanfordmswim. I want to thank God for giving me this opportunity and helping be who I am today. Thank you to @atac_swim and all the coaches that have helped me get to this point. To my friends and family thank you for supporting me and encouraging me along the way. Go Cards 🌲🌲”

Ekk is a senior at Lawton Chiles High School. He trains year-round with Area Tallahassee Aquatic Club and we ranked him #16 on our list of Top-20 Boys Swimmers in the high school class of 2025 after he had established himself as one of the top mid-distance swimmers in the cohort.

Ekk won the 200 IM (1:48.54) and 500 free (4:19.89) at the Florida High School Class 3A State Championships last November, giving him one of the few sub-4:20s in the class. Both were lifetime bests, with his 500 time representing a 6.3-second drop from his previous best. A month later, at Winter Juniors East, he established new PBs in the 50 free (20.78), 200 free (1:35.85), 100 back (48.82), and 200 back (1:43.81), while placing 4th in the 200 back and 5th in the 200 free. His best times in the 200/500/1000 free and 400 IM came in March at the Florida Swimming Spring Senior Championships.

Ekk had an even better long course season, going PBs in all his events (100/200/400 free and 100/200 back) at Canadian Olympic Trials. He placed 3rd in the 200 back (1:58.92), 4th in the 400 free (3:53.35 in prelims), and 7th in the 200 free (1:49.20). He swam for Canada at the 2024 Junior Pan Pacific Championships, where he was an A finalist in the 200 free (2nd), 200 back (3rd), and 200 IM (7th). He left the meet with new best times in the 200 free (1:48.68), 200 back (1:58.28), and 200 IM (2:04.33).

Ekk will join the Cardinal’s class of 2029 with Jason Zhao, Andy Kravchenko, and Ray Liu.

Best SCY times:

  • 200 free – 1:35.66
  • 500 free – 4:19.35
  • 1000 free – 8:56.73
  • 200 back – 1:43.81
  • 200 IM – 1:48.54
  • 400 IM – 3:49.26
