The NCAA has released the pre-selection psych sheets for the 2015 Women’s NCAA Championship meet. These sheets do not show who has qualified for the meet, but rather focus on the entries submitted for consideration by college coaches.
These lists are significant in that they allow fans to see what events top swimmers are trying to shoot for in March in Greensboro – those swimmers who aren’t concerned about earning an invite.
The cut lines will be announced later this week, but last year they fell between lines 39 and 40.
In the coming hours, we will begin breaking down the psych sheets, seeing who has interesting entries, and seeing if we can draw any conclusions about where the NCAA Championship meet is heading.
List doesn’t have 200IM listed
Yes
Siminec and Lincoln are tied for 39th in the 100 fly. Has this ever happened in the past? What do you predict will happen for these two?
curious – in this case it doesn’t matter, because Siminec is already in.
It has happened before, happened a few years back in the men’s 50 free, and that time was even messier because it straddled the cut line. In this case, both would get in if Simenec hadn’t already qualified.
It’s a blowout on paper …. Cal by 130 over UGA. Anyone see Georgia pulling it off?
Don’t forget diving!
Is there a maximum number of individual swimmers that a team can take? Does this include relays?
How many relays do they take in each event? Certainly not as many as individual events?
Eddie – relays are not done by a count. All “A” relays go, presuming the team also has an individual qualifier. Once a team has an “A” relay in, all of that team’s “B” relays also qualify.
How do they determine how many are invited in each event? Do swimmers ever drop off between the pre-selection list and the invited list?
SwimMom – not likely.
The process is complicated, but they basically go through the events, taking the next-fastest in each, until they’ve hit the maximum number of allowed, invited swimmers.
