Kaitlyn Hauser Verbally Commits to East Carolina

Kaitlyn Hauser of T2 Aquatics and Estero High School in Estero, Florida, has given her verbal commitment to East Carolina University for the 2016-17 season.  Hauser is a freestyle specialist who swam her way to the podium in two individual races at last year’s Florida High School 2A State Championships, with second-place finishes in both the 200 and 500 freestyle events.

Hauser is looking to be a point-producing ECU Pirate right off the bat, as her personal bests in the 1650 freestyle, 500 freestyle and 200 freestyle would have all made the American Athletic Conference finals this past championships. Specifically for the Pirates, Hauser will help fill the void left by graduating senior Lauren Chew, who placed 3rd in the 500 and 1st in the 1650 at the 2015 AAC Championships.

Below are Hauser’s best times:

SCY

1650 free – 16:39.43
500 free – 4:50.76
200 free – 1:48.28

LCM

1500 free –   17:14.81
800 free –  9:04.56
500 free – 4:25.99
200 free –  2:06.13

As for her decision, Hauser exclaims, “I’m beyond excited  to announce that I have verbally committed to East Carolina University. From the moment I arrived on campus, I knew it was going to be my home for the next four years.  The coaches and team welcomed me into their family. I felt at home when I was there and didn’t want to leave. I know at ECU I will reach my full potential in academics and athletics.  I want to thank my Mom and everyone who made this possible.  I couldn’t have done it without my family and friends. Go Pirates!”

It’s going to be the best 4 years of your life!

I’m a 56 year old grandfather ’82 grad , my wife (that I met on the school bus between classes) has a degree from East, we have two children with ECU degrees (one teaches at the med school), a son in law with one, a daughter in law with one, and my brother has a degree from East. All are successful. We bleed purple and gold. I wouldn’t change anything. It was wonderful. You are going to love it!
